Fin talk again!
I will sail on the new BM this season and I am looking for a really powerfull fin for those days with reallly light wind and gusty conditions.
Weight: 95 kg. Sail: Point-7 12,5.
Right now I am thinking about F4 BB 80-10cm, 5-12 Knots, =Kashy 87cm
or a VMG 79 cut down.
Have anyone tested those fins or do you have any other suggestions about fin choice.
For winds from 13 knots and moore I use a FRB8 651, an excellent fin with both great pointing ability and speed (havent used it on the new boar yet).

I have a VMG 78 cut that I want to use on the really light wind days with new Warp-100. I also have a Kashy XXS 72 cut.
Only problem, I'm still waiting for the board, so can't tell you yet how it behaves.
Hope to have the board soon so I can tell.

Gonzalo you've just posted on MS forum about new tr-6.That's pretty good.
Would you please try to help us here?
Should be early for the super right fin advice but,as you know, fin purchasing is very difficult for long delivery time.So having a rough idea about stiffnes and rake and couple of sizes would be very helpfull for use "mortals".
thank you

Hi Giu,
So far from my set of fins i like a lot the K72 XS. This kind of fin i would say was the most used by the immortals last year. Wojtec, Ross, some other polish guys, many brasilians love this fin.
For the new board it seems that every time i test it against my 70 the 72 has an edge both upwind and downwind. When i try my 78 i feel that the trim is very easy upwind and that i have good upwind but i sacrifice a lot the downwind performance. I get quite a lot of lift but not much speed.
I dont have a 74 or 75..but i think that a 72 is enough.
To translate this to mortas...haha..i can t really say much because i havent tried all the fins that are stated on this posts. Something that i like a lot are Peter Ifjus fins. They are very stable and fast. Some very good guys last year had excelent results at the worlds on them..specially when power up.
I would say i wouldn't take extremely wide thick tips..a good balance layup giving a nice even feel below the back foot...no kicks from the fin or no super loose super soft fins would work.
Nothing extraordinary is what you are looking for. The board is easy to trim and very fast downwind..so you can concentrate on getting a fin for the upwind performance..
I will get you guys some more imfo tomorrow from some more fin testing as the forecast is very good.

wow,
thank you very much for your comment.
Now it should be easier.
Kashy 72 XS (or similar) as allround fin (11,0-10,0).
Now have to realize what would be the choice for the light air.
Look forward to hear from you very soon (tomorrow?!) so,finally,I can place my fin order.
cheers

Hi guys, i couldnt tes too much yesterday as the river was far out and there was a lot of walking to make changes. I deffenitly like more the 72s oriented fins over the 70 and i am preffering rake in 4.0 degress instead of 4.5.
I will be sailing today again, i ll test Peters and some Z fins that i have from last year.

hey Papounet,
do you use to buy 1 (or more fins) for each brand on the market?
I know it would be the way but too expensive for "real world" people.
Lot more better if the pros give here their (honest) suggestions.
Meanwhile:
Gonzalo,what's new??

Hi Giu,
It's time for salary review, if my boss double the stakes why not (-:
But actualy, i have only R13 68 + R17 70 on my Ooooollllld FX IV
Seriously, i think taht a lot of people as cheers dont understand whats the matter with :
F4 BB 80-10cm / VMG 79 cut down / FRB8 651 / Kashy XXS 72 cut / ll test Peters and some Z fins

I've tested F4 BB 80-10 (5 degrees) but with the older BM. I noticed that the board rides better with higher body stance than my previous fin (R20).
Didn't have the chance to tune up my gear for this fin yet, but the fin rides nicely by loading it properly with the back leg. Fin feels really controllable and stable in gusts.
F4 has bigger surface next to a VMG of similar cut down, this translates to a more powerful feeling on the water suitable for heavyweights (i'm 98kg).

Mats!
I thought that I knew you. But the "weight 95 kg" does not seem to match. Is it you? ;-)
